A budget friendly option when on sale that includes it’s own video monitor.
I purchased this to be used in Hong Kong. The item comes with a US 2-prong style plug that is connected to the monitor by screw terminals. This can be easily removed by removing a cover that is held on by a single screw. The installation video from Switchbot actually shows how it can be removed. Then you can simply find another power cable and strip the end wires to connect whatever connector you need to the monitor. The good news is that the monitor is the only item that needs mains power, and it is universal voltage. The same can’t be said about the S10 robot vacuum dock also from Switchbot that only runs on 110V.The doorbell can be charged using a USB-C cable. To install it to your front door, you can use either two screws to install the bracket to your wall or door. Switchbot even includes a template similar to some Ikea furniture that allows you to mark exactly where the holes should be drilled. The bracket can also be held using the included 3M VHB tape and this is how I have installed mine. On a lacquered wooden door, this has never fallen off since I’ve used the same method to attach the Keypad Vision to my door. Speaking of which, the brackets for installing the Keypad Vision is the same as the Video Doorbell. I wish I knew this before removing the bracket for the Keypad Vision, since I decided to mount the doorbell beside the original doorbell and move the Keypad Vision onto my door.I’ve owned the 1st Generation Ring (pre-Amazon owned era) and the Arlo Video Doorbell HD. The Switchbot Video Doorbell is the fastest to connect to in the app. With regards to the video quality, the Switchbot has a more aggressive fish-eye image compared to the other 2, but also sees the least amount of the ground area mounted at the same height. If you want to use this to see packages placed at your front door, you will have to angle it down. Unfortunately, this hardware is unavailable for Switchbot. The Monitor, which also houses a micro-SD card slot for recording videos, is by far the function that sets it apart from the other two. The monitor also connects to the doorbell at lightning speed, faster than the app itself. The video quality isn’t the greatest and is similar to the performance of a TN LCD monitor, but it gets the job done. I had issues trying to load all the videos and it was only able to play back 2 videos of someone ringing the doorbell but none of the motion captured videos. The rest of the videos could be played back perfectly fine through the app. I have yet to find out if this is a setting issue or a hardware/software issue. The light sensitivity is also great and I can get coloured videos easily whereas the Ring doorbell always captured videos in black and white. The quality of the videos from Switchbot begins with a pixelated view and takes a second or two to get the full definition. This is possibly to lower the latency for the connection to be established.Sensitivity on the other hand can be a hit or miss. I live in an apartment and people go pass the doorbell to throw out their rubbish at the backstairs. There are times when the video only captures the backs of people meaning they have already gone past half the horizontally view of the camera before the video gets captured. There are also completely missed events although I don’t know if this is by design. I also use the Switchbot lock and when the door is opened and I get a notification, the doorbell does not capture any video at all. Sometimes I want to see who is leaving the apartment but I don’t get any video captured. The Video Doorbell also supports Matter, and this should mean that it can be added to Apple HomeKit. I have not tested this out but since I have Switchbot skill added to Alexa, the doorbell was automatically added to Alexa as well. All in all, this is an extremely budget friendly kit for the $101.99 I paid for it. If the Monitor is an option that you need, then this is a no brainer compared to the Arlo and Ring options mentioned above. The only nitpick I have is that the Monitor doesn’t have an option to add a battery or to be charged via one. As it runs on mains power, piggy packing an external battery isn’t really a choice unless you pick up one of those specialty batteries that serve 110V. However, the price along with the smoothness and quickness of the connection via the app makes the Switchbot Video Doorbell easy to recommend.

Not impressed. Software features needs improvement.
Replaced a Blink doorbell. Despite the much larger size, the battery does not last very long. I don’t like the software features, the night vision is not very good, and the motion light is not very useful and is probably the battery consumption culprit.Having a separate monitor offered very little value for me is most of my living isn’t too far from the front door, pretty much serves as a click, not worth the extra cost for me.One of my big pet peeves is that the default image is the last image of someone ringing the doorbell. It can’t be refreshed remotely, so opening the app I’m always greeted by a photo of someone who rang the bell a month or two ago (I get very little company that needs to ring the bell).I bought this mostly for watching for package delivery and potentially capturing porch pirates. It functions for that as it detects people automatically, but for the price, there are better options IMO.

Don’t try and connect to existing electric doorbell, like I did.
Don’t try and connect to older electric doorbell! I like the doorbell. However you can’t hear the chime when upstairs or the TV is on. Volume is up to max. With my previous NEST doorbell camera, it rang the electric door chime, which is easily heard anywhere in our house, and even on our back deck. The disadvantage to the NEST, is that it didn’t have an instant view of the bell ringer, like the SwitchBot does. So, I saw the SwitchBot has low voltage connectors so I connected it to the old doorbell wires…AND FRIED THIE CAMERA☹️. I’ve ordered a new camera/monitor and hopefully I can pair the two monitors with the new doorbell, so we can have a monitor upstairs and downstairs. We’ll see in a few days when it arrives. SomIngive the system high marks, except for not being able to ring the electric chimes and, even set at high, the monitor chime is not loud enough.

SwitchBot-Karte (Mifare Classic 1K)2. SwitchBot Smart Tracker-Karte3. IC-Karte (z. B. Suica, PASMO ticketlose Bahnkarten in Japan)4.

I’ve has Ring and Aosu doorbells so I wasn’t sure how much I’d actually love this video doorbell… but it turns out, quite a lot 😄The SwitchBot Wireless Doorbell has been rock solid from day one (I’ve been using it for nearly 2 weeks now). The 2K video quality is impressively sharp – I can clearly see who’s at the door (and what they’re holding), and the head-to-toe view is great… no more mystery parcels half-cut off at the bottom of the frame. Night “vision” is great too, probably the best of the three types i have tried. The included 4.3” screen is a huge win for me. I love being able to just glance over and see who’s there without grabbing my phone or opening an app. It feels very “future house” but without any faff. Its a genuinely useful touch rather than a gimmick.Setup was painless – everything paired quickly and integrates with the app fine. I have many other SwitchBot devices and they have all been a doddle to set up and access through the app. I think once you find a brand you like you stick with it and this is the brand for me.Motion detection works well without being over-sensitive, and the two-way audio is clear enough to have an actual conversation rather than a robotic shouting match. The automated responses are really helpful for a quick reply to delivery drivers…. that is what i primarily use it for anyhow. The layout of the doorbell itself feels like an old school intercom – with a rectangle button bell button at the bottom of the device, which is different to the standard circles on the Ring and AOSU devices, and this is in keeping with the intercom feel.Alexa integration worked straight away too.Overall, it’s smart, reliable, and well thought out. I have had to contact support with one gripe as when i use the app to view the video feed i have to sign in to my apple account every time. Tech support appear aware of this and are investigating. The internal micro SD card that comes with it was a great touch but at 4Gb you’ll soon be increasing that to the maximum 512Gb!Other than that, it does exactly what you want a video doorbell to do, and does it well. Honestly feels like much more expensive kit than it is. Very happy with this purchase 👍
