Great customer service and a nice light
I’m not a lighting expert and just use this ring light for attending classes remotely. It works great for that, and it is inexpensive. My light stopped working after about 6 months and I contacted the company by e-mail and they quickly responded AND mailed me a whole new ring light – all I asked for was the BULB. That’s some great customer service. I think maybe the issue was that the brick I was using was one of those small square Apple bricks – upon inspection it is 5V/1 amp, and they clearly recommended 5V/2 amp – I think I wasn’t providing enough power to the light. Now I need to find a 5V/2 amp brick to plug the USB end of the provided cable into. Happy customer.

1. SHORT USB – The only con (that isn’t even enough for me to take off a star) is that the USB cord isn’t very long. I can’t measure it this second but I’d guesstimate it’s 6-8 ft? So it’s not super versatile if you’re trying to move it around, but I’m sure some combination of a USB wall charger + extension cord or a USB extender can work. If you’re just wanting this for streaming or video calls, this won’t be an issue.2. GREAT LIGHTING – I was skeptical about the quality, but this really is a great light for the price, especially if you’re starting with nothing, lol. It is light and plastic and doesn’t feel expensive or anything, but the lighting itself is awesome. The range of dim to bright is great, and while I can’t imagine ever using the cool light setting, I do appreciate those options, too. I don’t have anything to compare this to, but I’m happier with this that I thought I would be!3. SUPERIOR CAMERA PLACEMENT – I did some research on ring lights before buying this because it feels like a big thing, and I learned that the lights that put your camera directly in the middle of the light are doing this wrong. That’s what creates that annoying ring of light in your eyes. I went with this one because the phone attachment is below the light, which is where everyone who knows what they’re talking about says it should be, and it’s perfect. No ring of light, no squinting. It’s only just above my face, so it also doesn’t create any weird shadows or anything. I don’t understand why so many lights sell with the phone attachment in the middle of the light?? I guess people think this is how they work, but it isn’t! Anyway, this one does have an attachment in the middle of it if you decide you want that, but the phone holder it comes with doesn’t attach, so you’d have to buy your own separately. But the option is there.4. FREE PHONE CAMERA REMOTE – I didn’t realize that this came with its own phone camera remote! It does say in the description it comes with a shutter remote, I guess I didn’t realize what that was. I bought my own separately but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the one that came with the light.

Failing to work after three years
The light worked okay for nearly three years. Quality is poor, but at least it worked. The On/Off button quickly wore down, and I had to tape over the button for it to work. Recently, the light stopped turning on. I have to unplug it, plug it back in, and try to turn it on — I have to do that many times before it finally turns on.Once it’s on, it works okay, but if it turns off, it does not want to turn back on.For the price, three years is okay; it’s just a bother to replace.
