Good replacement
We replaced our old. round, simple Honeywell thermostat…..the kind your grandma has. 20 years ago it was OK but it seems that it was less accurate/responsive than what we wanted. Probably just my expectation. Anyway, these were on sale, and advertised to be very simple so I bought it. The operation is simple. The set up is more of less straight forward with opening the menu and clicking on what you believe to be the right selections. Given our heat system (boiler with forced hot water oil fired) is about as simple as can be. Only heat with a wood stove, the wiring and set up could be simpler. We have a 2 wire system that is about as straight forward as you can get but there is not a straight forward diagram and specifics in the manual for the menu choices. Seems to me if you have a system with A/C the set up would be easier. Anyway, I could see someone not familiar with wiring to get a a tad confused. We have a black and white conductor in our wiring so there is no red. My first thought was the black goes to the ‘R’ connector and my first shot at the white wire was to the ‘C’-Common I believe its meant to be. Didn’t work so my wife found a help page on line that suggested the white ought to go to the ‘W’ which another reference said is not used in two wire systems. That did the trick. The thermostat works well and it is easy to read and there is no confusion…….no programming, no worrying about what day you want it to do what, no WiFi connections used or needed. I do not recall where I read what but there are confusing comments about whether it needs batteries or not. I installed them, 2 AA’s so I guess that does something to remember the setup memory if you lose power. On the back of the device, I wrote down the various menu choices that work for my system. I figure if they get erased/lost I won’t have to go searching for how to set them up and decide which setting to select. Overall, good choice if you are not worried that you can run your thermostat from a cell phone and want a simpler life. Another observation that is inconsequential: when you change the go-to temp setting, it takes about 7-8 seconds to respond. I believe that is what this controller does so do not expect it to immediately ‘click’ when you change a temp setting.

Easy, simple, and works.
It is very simple and easy to use with no complicated programming . Here is the features that I wanted and I use and like: 1- It has a light built in so at night I can see what I set it to. 2- you can click a simple switch to heat or cold. 3- you set the temperature you want and it goes there. 4- I don’t have to figure out how to “program it”. Ok, ok, I HATE programmable thermostats. My experience with them, they are difficult to figure out how to set. Programmable May be for some people, but not for me. Simple, easy, and it lights up is all I need and want. It is a Honeywell and that is quality product.

Very easy installation, nice thermostat
I received this thermostat over night. My old one went out and I wanted something that was simple to use as I never programmed my old one. This is easy to install and simple to use. Plus, it you don’t find it easy, YouTube has the exact one with foolproof directions. I had no trouble installing at all. The display is a nice size too. I am very happy with my purchase!

Replacing one of those idiotically complicated programmable thermostat
I had a programmable thermostat, and the damned thing never worked right. Even after I got on line, I still could not get it to work. I guess broken.I used to live in a house with an old-timey thermostat that you set it at the temperature you wanted, and went to bed. In the morning, if you wanted it warmer, you got out of bed and turned the heat up. Wow. Big deal. But I wanted a more modern look. This looks the part. It’s got a LCD screen. Set it to heat or to cool. Then you set the temperature you want. It displays the current temperature. That’s it! Easy-peasy!It works fine, was easy to install, looks great, no mercury, very intuitive. I cannot ask for anything more. A winner!

Frustrating!
I purchased this to replace an older programmable thermostat. I incorrectly assumed that a non-programmable thermostat would be easier to use. Boy was I wrong! The instructions were difficult to navigate and then there were settings that once set, were impossible to change. Cycling through all the settings over and over was frustrating because the buttons didn’t seem to respond appropriately. Then, every time a setting was changed, we had to wait 5 minutes to see if the change took the desired effect. There was one setting that was not applicable to my system that through much time and many attempts, we could not change to the desired setting and after using the installation instructions, it led us to an incorrect installation which led to a complete shutdown of the system. A $300 charge from a professional who said the instructions and incorrect setting led to a blown fuse (luckily) and not a blown transformer! Beware!

It is very easy to program and works great. I like the fact that you can set it to automatically go from heat to ac without having to keep changing at season change. When the battery is low it tells you on the display and is very easy to replace the batteries. I like the simplicity of changing the temperature and the fact that i can set at 72 and it stays there year around. I think the cost is very reasonable and would highly recommend for simplicity and reliability.

Nice and simple thermostat to control my new 2 stage furnace. Only complaint is it requires batteries instead of using the low voltage power supplied by the furnace.
