It’s a powerhouse of a device that offers unparalleled connectivity, clarity, and versatility
Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD USB Audio InterfaceThe Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD USB Audio Interface is a game-changer for anyone looking to elevate their audio recording and production experience. As a musician and audio enthusiast, I’ve had the pleasure of using this interface extensively, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations in every way.Connectivity, clarity, and ease of use are the standout features of this audio interface. The seamless USB connectivity ensures hassle-free setup and compatibility with a wide range of devices, while the clarity of the audio signals is nothing short of impressive. Whether I’m recording vocals, instruments, or podcasts, the UMC404HD delivers pristine sound quality every time. One of the most impressive aspects of this interface is its versatility, thanks to its four inputs and outputs. The individual gain controls and pad switches for each input make it incredibly easy to dial in the perfect levels, whether I’m recording multiple instruments simultaneously or mixing multiple audio sources. This level of control is invaluable for both beginners and experienced musicians alike, allowing for precise adjustments to achieve the desired sound. While the unit lacks a USB input, the inclusion of XLR and 1/4″ jacks more than makes up for it. These versatile input options accommodate a wide range of audio devices, ensuring compatibility with virtually any setup. Additionally, I appreciate the ability to connect my open-back headphones, monitor speakers, and instruments directly to the interface, allowing me to tailor the mix to my preferences with ease.In terms of software compatibility, the UMC404HD works seamlessly with both of the digital audio workstations (DAWs) that I use. Whether I’m recording and editing in Ableton Live or mixing and mastering in Pro Tools, this interface delivers consistent performance and reliability across the board.Overall, the Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD USB Audio Interface is a powerhouse of a device that offers unparalleled connectivity, clarity, and versatility. Whether you’re a beginner just starting out or an experienced musician looking to take your recordings to the next level, this interface is sure to exceed your expectations.

    First and Now Favorite Brand
This was my first audio interface, recommended by a friend, and it made such an impression on me that it will be my brand of choice. The value was great, not very budget breaking. I did have some initial issues as I tried to find the right driver to work with my daw, probably user error, but once that was worked out everything was great. I use it every day, it only has 4 inputs so I have to switch them out a lot for different instruments. So far it has been very sturdy with all the removing and inserting inputs. Absolutely 0 latency that I have experienced. Will be looking for one with more inputs soon, as I plan to have a second recording station.

Good value and a straight-forward interface
I’ve had one of these units, which I bought from here, since May 2020. It’s been a solid interface and does what you would expect it to. Sound quality is great. It’s mostly easy to use, although I did put some labels on the front so I would know where I’m reaching for things like the phantom power switch in the back.My only small complaint is that when I reboot, the device doesn’t seem to automatically reconnect. I find that I have to unplug the usb and plug it back in. Then my computer recognizes it and everything is fine. I don’t have this issue with any other USB devices on my computer, which leads me to think it has something to do with this device, but I’m not 100% sure either.

Worked right out of the box, portable
The only thing I needed the manual for was to check if it needed the power adapter or could be powered via USB connection, and it needs the power adapter to function. There is no off switch so plugging it in turns it on. Using Logic as the DAW, it immediately worked just by selecting it as the interface. Normally I would have gotten the 8 channel version but this one was better for portability and doing something like a 2-4 person interview with just a laptop, this unit, and headphones and mics. Perfect cheap and reliable interface with decent amount of output options.

I bought a UMC202HD then I bought this because it was such a great product
I have been using a UMC202HD which is a two channel version and I needed a second audio interface for a PC in another room so I decided to get the 404HD this time around because I’m so impressed and happy with the product. The quality of sound is ridiculously good considering the price. The build is pretty good, but of course it’s not as solid as something costing far more. I can feel the slightest amount of play with the knobs and phones input so I can already tell without opening it that it’s directly mounted to the circuit board without any support. I don’t expect this to be a problem for me as since I don’t tweak the knobs as often as someone running a professional studio.I don’t have a dedicated recording studio and my microphones are not in the thousand dollar range, so the benefits of a super expensive interface would have made no difference in my situation. I record at home so the acoustics aren’t optimized like a purpose built studio where the differences are perceptible.I use Audacity a lot and because that software can’t do multiple interfaces at the same time, so the 404HD gives me more channels so that I can record from multiple microphones which allows me to choose and mix. It also allows me to not have to physically swap inputs and change input settings and levels along with that. I’d rather not wear out the panel connectors either. I don’t necessarily regret buying the 202HD, but after buying the 404HD, I think that for the extra money, it is worth having the extra channels if simply for the convenience and future proofing.

Rock solid interface with no glitches, no issues, no latency. Works without drivers or special software right out of the box for Mac. The preamps are crisp, clear, transparent and silent. The multiple outputs make using external effects almost as easy as using plugins. The UMC404HD is a steal at this price.
