Survived a Drop, Still Kicking
Shipping company dropped mine during delivery. Expected the worst with a 49″ curved OLED panel, but it powered on and worked perfectly. Amazon sent a replacement anyway, which says something about their customer support. The build quality is solid enough to survive what should have been a death sentence for a monitor this size. Three-year warranty provides peace of mind for an expensive display. Good brightness, picture quality, and refresh rate.

Beautiful unit and image quality
Fantastic unit. First OLED and first 49” unit. Used for work and gaming with a 34” Dell unit as well. Extremely bright, super clean image, colors are excellent and build quality seems very stout. I hate the menu control nob, very unresponsive and placed poorly, but other than that, I’m very happy.

Great monitor for bang for the buck (especially when its on sale)
Honestly, it’s way thinner than I thought it would be. Extremely beautiful and easy to install (Tip:I would connect the cables at the back first prior to placing onto table if you don’t have much room to work with because it’s extremely difficult to get to the back of it for how big it is). It’s also lighter than I thought it would be which makes it easier to move it around.Usage:Amazing, instantly saw the difference when changing from IPS to OLED. I dont think I will ever go back to other panel. No issues so far, I did have to update the firmware to be able to enable gsync(has to be done with usb since it doesnt do it with internet. It does come with a usb a to usb c cable so you can be able to connect it to update the firmware). Extremely smooth and no flickering issues. I would definitely recommend it for a super ultrawide monitor especially when its on a sale. Another thing that took me a while to notice is that you have to click in the middle of the control for the monitor itself to bring up the rest of the menu.

If you’re setting up a sim-rig and want to take immersion to the next level, the Samsung 49″ Odyssey OLED G9 absolutely delivers. The sheer size, the ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio (5120×1440 resolution), and the 240Hz refresh / 0.03 ms response time make it an incredible fit for racing sims.What I love:The massive curved display wraps around your peripheral vision in a way that really pulls you into the cockpit. For sim racing, this helps you feel like you’re in the car, not just looking at it. (Curvature: 1800R)OLED panel = deep blacks, vivid colours, excellent contrast. When you’re driving at dusk or night in your sim, the lighting and reflections really pop.The resolution and width mean you can have huge views—ideal for looking ahead, checking mirrors (or virtual mirrors), side windows, etc. In a sim rig you want that “field of view” feel.High refresh rate and ultra-fast response help when you’re making quick steering inputs, looking into corners, or managing rapid changes. It reduces blur and keeps things crisp.As a “price seems reasonable” pick for what you get: Considering size + specs + immersive effect, it stands out among sim-rig monitors.Some things to keep in mind (so you’re not surprised):Because it’s so large, it demands a lot of desk/rig space, and you’ll want to be positioned at a proper distance to really benefit from the wrap-around effect.Pixel density is lower than e.g. a 4K monitor of smaller size. Some reviewers say text or UI elements might not be as crisp for productivity use. But for driving visuals, it’s more than good.There’s a risk of burn-in with OLEDs if you frequently have static HUDs or static elements (common in sim rigs). Just something to monitor if you leave the screen on long sessions with fixed overlays.Make sure your graphics card/PC setup can push enough frames / support the wide resolution to make full use of the monitor. If you’re underpowered, you’ll get less benefit.In bright daylight / strong ambient light, OLED brightness (while excellent) may not match some high-end mini-LED displays in sustained brightness.Verdict (for sim-rigs):If I were upgrading my sim rig and wanted big impact, the Odyssey OLED G9 is a top-tier choice. It hits that sweet spot of size + spec + immersion. The price is premium but when you factor how much of your visual experience it covers (one big display instead of multiple monitors) it feels like strong value.If space, budget, and GPU horsepower align, I’d say go for it.

Light weight for such a large monitor
I have the original version of this monitor, which is huge in both size and weight. This one, on the other hand, is much smaller and lighter despite being the same screen size. The thinness is quite amazing, but that’s the beauty of OLED. Not only is it light, but it gives incredible picture quality and color accuracy. I put the monitor on an VESA arm using the included VESA adapter, which works beautifully. Setting it up was a breeze. If there’s one complaint I have for this monitor, it would be that I thought it would be a bit brighter, given that it is QD-OLED. It is decently bright, but does not approach that of Samsung’s QD-OLED televisions. One thing to note is that the monitor ships in ECO mode, so make sure to turn that off to make sure you can maximize brightness.Another issue is that I wish it had more ports. I don’t see much utility in a micro-HDMI port, though I do find the HDMI and DisplayPort ports to be very useful. HDMI 2.1 is a bonus, being superior to the 2.0 standard. There are no USB 2.0 ports, which makes it harder to plug in items such as mice and keyboards, which mostly tend to have USB 2.0 cables. I would have preferred to have 2.0 ports instead of USB-C ports.The difference between this monitor and its more expensive siblings is the maximum refresh rate of 144Hz instead of 240Hz on the higher end models. Very few games I’ve found can maintain higher refresh rates consistently, so 144Hz doesn’t bother me. I’m not sure I could tell the difference between 144Hz and 240Hz anyway. The cost savings for the lower refresh rate is pretty significant. Having G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro is an excellent feature to prevent screen tearing.One thing to note is that the curve on this monitor is significantly slighter than the older models, which had 1000R curves. This one has a less aggressive 1800R. I do like the slighter curve since it distorts less on non-gaming applications.
