these are awesome powered speakers.
I have 6 of these I’m using for my surround speakers on my PC (7.1 with a larger sub/center combo).They have amazing sound for an 8″ fullrange…and above average base response.Good quality low level sound…All the way up to the neighbors across the street calling the police level and still have good quality.My first pair is 5 years old and functioning as good it did when it was new.I’d recommend these to anyone.

Let me start by informing you that I have owned only passive monitors with a dream of one day being able to have a set of nice active monitors.I am really picky when it comes to my sound. With previous passive monitors, I would bring them to the music store, and pair them up with different amps so I could find the best sounding amp that worked with the monitors. It was a fun adventure, but being a parent and not having the free time, I knew I needed to go active for my next set.I didn’t have the funds to drop $1000+ on active 8inch monitors so I started looking at smaller speakers. The Rockville 5inch caught my eye and found they made 8 inch versions for under $500. I couldn’t figure out why they got my attention (Other than the price point) as I hadn’t even heard them in person or heard of the brand before. I watched these speakers and did 8 months of research (literally started looking up EVERYTHING I could back in June). From how they are made, where they are made, the types of materials put into them, quality control tests the company performs, different vendors that sell their products, countless hours of online videos, cause I couldn’t believe I found a quality active 8 inch monitor for under $500.Finally, (after approval from my wife of course) I made the purchase. Upon receiving them right on time compared to the estimated delivery date, I unboxed them and let them sit inside for 24 hours before I plugged them in. I started the break in process with listening at low volume for 20 hours, then I started increasing the volume. I still haven’t taken them over half volume and my neighbors asked me if I had a full blown PA system in my house.They are CLEAN sounding, they get loud without distorting, and they are nice to look at as well. I have ran music through them, electronic drum kit, I used a DI and a pedal to put my guitar through them and all of it sounds astounding. Warm rich tone that isn’t boomy or too full of bass. Just a nice balance.My only complaint and because I have to nitpick a little. The power switch is on the back which I found mildly inconvenient, they are hooked up to a surge protector/power conditioner now so I don’t have to reach behind them to shut them off or turn them on anymore.

Alright so I got these because I like to mix music and I wanted to get started in production with Ableton. I never wrote reviews because it’s a waste of my time – BUT these things BANG. You get that DEEEEEEP base and they’re loud – crisp sound.10/10 worth the price – best purchase.

Ive had these for 3 days now..they’re solid and look super sleek. Main things i want to point out to other audio engineers is that in order to use these with an audio interface/pod/mixer you will need to buy a dual xlr to rca cable. Both speakers need to be connected to each other via the provided cable, but is not a problem at all( i have these about 6 feet apart on stands). There is a noticeable clicking noise that comes from the slave speaker if the connecter cable isn’t all the way in so make sure that if you do move them to check the connections. Bass is impressive- id like to try out their apm 10 sub to see if it compares to my krk sub. But overall they’re a great addition to my studio

I bought the 8” white speakers. At first, I had problems with a buzzing noise coming through and figured out that the lighting on my dj controller somehow causes it. It helped reduce it by a lot (though not fully remove) by replacing the usb cable that connects the controller to my computer, with another usb cable with better shielding. I fault my dj controller and not the speakers for that. As for the low hissing sound that people mention, it doesn’t bother me and from my experience, all powered speakers hiss. It can be reduced by adjusting the volume on both the speakers and sound source. I also had a problem with sound quality in the beginning, which was caused by placing the speakers too close together. They weren’t sounding good and the highs seemed muffled. After figuring out to place them at the recommended distance from each other in relation to how far I’m sitting, they now sound excellent. And with a subwoofer adding more depth, my system is sounding and feeling powerful. The speakers look good and high quality.

First, I’ll get the beef out of the way. I ordered the Cherry finish and received the cheaper by $25.00 black set. That’s not the way you get 5 star reviews on Amazon, Mr. Rockville. Fire the blind guy in the shipping department then I’ll consider ordering from you again.As far as the monitors go, I broke them in over 8 hours at 1/3 volume. The end result was a remarkably flat response at all levels of volume. As with all near field monitors, I need to get them up off the floor and at face level to really get the best sound. But that’s next week.UPDATE:Wow seems no bass getting through to the slave speaker. This really looks bad for Amazon. I downgrade my rating and will never buy this brand again. Goodbye.
