Got three of these for an older PC rebuild a while back (two were a gift, one was a replacement + spare). This PC uses DDR3 memory, which was before the RGB craze really took off in general, and to compound that it’s getting harder to find new DDR3 in the modern day and age. As such, the only real option for getting RGB memory on that type of RAM is to use aftermarket heat spreaders like these.The actual “heat spreader” bit of the product is simple enough. There are some thermal pads that stick to the RAM and some spacers, and you slap them around the RAM and screw them together. On the two sticks of RAM that I have, they fit just fine, but if you have RAM with preinstalled heat spreaders you’ll need to remove those (protip: use a hot air gun to weaken any adhesive that may be present. I learned this the hard way). There are some rather annoying logos on the spreaders, but it’s easy enough to just orient the metal such that those sides both face each other, rendering them invisible to the outside world.The RGB is where things get iffy. Underneath the plastic light diffuser, there’s a thin PCB with addressable WS2812 LEDs underneath, and a cable that then plugs into the standard addressable RGB pin headers (the type you’d find on most non-Gigabyte motherboards, though for Gigabyte motherboards it comes with an adapter). For controlling multiple strips, there’s splitters at the end of each cable that you can use to daisy chain additional stuff. You won’t be able to individually control each LED on each stick when doing it like this, as functionally speaking multiple strips will behave like one strip. This may be annoying depending on your use case, but it’s not unsolvable.The problem with the RGB is that you can get strips with varying levels of uniformity in color and brightness, and if the strip begins moving underneath the diffuser (which is very easy for it to do, as it’s mostly just held in place by friction) it’ll affect how clearly each LED shows through. Ideally, you want the LEDs to sit as close to the bottom of the diffuser channel as possible to spread the light out sufficiently, but without modifying the product and adding some adhesive to the bottom of the strip you’ll probably be jiggling the cable to achieve the ideal positioning required.As for my own experience with this, the first set that I had received as a gift had one stick of LEDs DOA. When I later purchased a replacement set, both sticks worked but one had noticeably different colors than the other. It did match up with the remaining stick from the first set, though, so I was able to swap the diffuser bars out and had no issues from then on.I guess my ultimate verdict is that if you don’t have any other options for RGB RAM, these will work well for you (assuming you get a spare or two and have RAM without integrated heat spreaders, just in case). Just wish there was better QC on them.

Easy Set Up and Install Great Look
Installed two of these is my Alienware Aurora R13 PC. Since Alienware uses proprietary rgb headers, you need to buy a separate three-pin rgb controller with SATA plug to hook them up from the EZYDIY light kit to an Alienware motherboard SATA header in order to control them. So, I bought the DS Mini ARGB PC Fans Controller Kit for Rainbow Case Fans, PC Rainbow LED Strip (3-pin, 14 key Remote, SATA Power, B Series). That’s a long name but short story is this is a great combo. The remote controller allows for various color and intensity settings. don’t, know why Alienware didn’t put rgb kits on their memory in the first place. They really make the case pop.

With the cost of ram soaring at the end of 2025 I can forsee people buying this in lieu of upgrading. If you have heatsinks on your existing ram be aware you will have to remove them which is a daunting task. I ruined a stick of 32g pulling the heatsink off after heating it up a bit with a heating gun. If you are buying this with ram make sure you buy ram WITHOUT a heatsink on it. Looks great once it is installed and very professional installation.

LEDs already failing within a few days
I use Corsair’s Vengeance RGB Pro on my main gaming PC and love them. However, I needed a solution for my Dual Xeon Linux server, this is where these RGB heatsinks come in. For this server I have ECC DDR4 memory, which you cannot get preinstalled RGBs for. Also since server boards don’t have RGB headers I had to purchase ASUS ROG Terminal which I ran the USB cable to my Windows PC right next to it with ASUS’s AURA software (there is no Linux version of compatible RGB software that I know of). Although it had added costs, these made a good solution for my specific situation. Initially they worked fine, although you can see each little LED bulb lit up, so you can tell the light is not evenly diffusing properly. But for a $20 product I can’t complain much and would give it a 4/5.Until a few days later when I noticed LEDs already starting to fail. This is frustrating cause of all the cable management already done to clean up all the RGB header cables, now I have to look into possibly replacing or finding a new solution completely if these things have a limited life expectancy. For a Linux Server that is meant to be on 24/7/365, it’s not promising at all that these things are already showing signs of failure within the first few days.

Der RAM Kühler funktioniert super mit der RGB Fusion Software von Gigabyte und ist eine gute Alternative zum Neukauf der RGB RAM. Erst hieß es die Lieferung nach Deutschland dauert 4 Wochen. Zum Glück ist dem nicht so gewesen und das Paket war bereits nach 2 Wochen bei mir.

This is a high quality product from ezdiy and really amplifies the aesthetics of any build. The packaging was good however, tracking the product was a bit of an issue since it wasn’t appearing in Amazon. I had to contact blue dart express for tracking the product. Installing is easy but you have to be careful not to break the ram while removing the old heatsink(if you have got one). These rgb heat sinks are only compatible with 5v 3 pin argb headers and not the 12v 4 pin rgb headers. Luckily I had a rgb fan hub which had 3 pin connectors and so I managed to make the rgb work in my case. Overall, I am very pleased with the product and recommend it to anyone who has a bit of money to spare on aesthetics since it is definitely cheaper than buying built in rgb rams

Don’t get it, looks very cheap, better if you get new rams. Mine died on me after 2 mins.
