Seamless, lightweight upgrade that looks factory and keeps the cameras clear
Picked these up for Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (size M 50-22) and they snap on so cleanly it’s hard to tell anything’s attached. The ultra‑thin clip-on matches the frame finish (matte vs. shiny) well, hugs the edges, and doesn’t wobble. The clear/grey transition is the standout—indoors they stay essentially clear, step outside and they darken quickly, cutting glare and eye strain without changing the look of the glasses. Weight is a non-issue; I forget they’re on after a few minutes.The camera cutouts are precisely aligned for both Gen 1 and Gen 2, so photos and video look normal—no vignetting or shadowing, even in bright sun. Attachment and removal take seconds, and you don’t need to take them off for charging in the case, which makes daily use simple. For travel and commuting, it’s a practical way to get sunglasses performance without swapping frames.A couple of notes from use: like most photochromic lenses, they rely on UV, so they won’t darken as much behind a car windshield. They’re not polarized, so hardcore glare off water/road will still be better handled by polarized lenses. Finally a Matte Black frame!
I have prescription lenses in my glasses and did not opt for transition because I like the ability to quickly snap on or off shades as I move from indoors to outdoors. BUT when I saw these transitions that in a matte finish blend in way better to my glasses I figured I’d give them a try since I could simply keep them on the glasses 24/7 but also quickly remove them if I went from a well lit to a dark space.The center bridge on the front of these is ‘cut out’ and I assume this is an effort to maximize compatibility with the charging case and desktop charging cradles. While I like the thought, the aesthetic is not as good though they did try to make it look intentional with a feathered edge (See photos). This is the only reason I took one star off because they are quite noticeable due to that missing bridge piece.I do like how large the holes for the camera and LED are so no view is possibly obstructed when capturing photos!!I haven’t gotten to test these too much outdoors but I did find out the hard way to not test them with a UV light as it can permanently damage the photochromic cells that are responsible for transitioning, so now I do have a small spot ‘burned in’ (my irresponsibility did not affect my rating, just sharing for others not to do the same)Another caveat to transition lenses: if you are inside a car they will not darken because the windshield has UV protection so don’t plan to use these for driving (I was aware of this so it did not affect my rating of the product)
